#NPWeek is a time to celebrate the hard work and invaluable contribution of the nation’s 270,000 advanced practice registered nurses to our healthcare system. It’s also a time for NPs to save some money, especially on professional memberships and continuing education units.
Below are some of the best discounts available to nurse practitioners between Nov. 10 and 16 for National Nurse Practitioner Week 2019.
1. $20 off an AANP membership for new members
Head over the website for the American Association for Nurse Practitioners, and use the code NPWeek19 to save $20 on your annual dues of $135. Benefits of an AANP membership include $400 worth of CEUs for free, discounts on AANP conference registration, free subscriptions to The Journal for Nurse Practitioners and The Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
2. Membership discount for local NP groups
If you’re not already a member of your state or regional NP organization, consider joining this week as many are offering discounts. New members of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners can save $25 with the code NPWeek19.
3. Membership discount for specialty-based organizations
Again, if you’re not already a member of a professional, specialty-based organization, this week is an excellent opportunity to save a few bucks while joining. For example, during National PA Week, National NP Week, and Urology Nurses & Associates Week, the American Urological Association waves its $50 application fee.
4. One week free of The Nurse Practitioner journal
Published by Wolters Kluwer, The Nurse Practitioner — a leading source of clinical information for APRNs and primary care providers — has made its November issue available for free until Saturday, Nov. 16.
5. Site-wide sale on Springer publications
Another leading publisher of academic information on nursing, Springer is offering shoppers 20 percent off purchases of one book and 30 percent off purchases of two or more with the codes NP20 and NP30 respectively. Well-known Springer titles include Fast Facts on Combating Nurse Bullying, Incivility and Workplace Violence: What Nurses Need to Know in a Nutshell ($35), Guidelines for Nurse Practitioners in Ambulatory Obstetric Settings, Second Edition ($80), and Using Nursing Research to Shape Health Policy ($85).
6. Free CEUs
Frontier Nursing University, ranked among U.S. News‘ top 50 online graduate nursing programs, is hosting a week-long virtual event for #NPWeek. At no cost, participants can attend two CE sessions — one about prescribing for PTSD and one about reflective practice — each worth 1 contact hour. Other lectures that do not provide CE address community health, timely sepsis care and more.
7. A free Away suitcase
8. Gift card and free CEUs from APEA
Advanced Practice Education Associates (APEA), an NP-founded company, is offering a $25 discount on its resources designed to help NPs pass their national certification exams. The company’s clinical brief on orthopedic pain management, worth 1.5 contact hours, is also available for free until Nov. 16
